SA Student Protests Continue For 4th Day
The student protests going on around South Africa, has gone on for the fourth consecutive day as things get more violent.
Yesterday saw a massive group of University of Cape Town students and workers march to parliament in Cape Town where South Africa’s finance minister was set to deliver a budget speech.
However, things quickly got out of control and turned violent, with police using stun grenades to disperse the growing crowd. A handful of students were also arrested.
Today, both the University of Johannesburg, as well as the University of Pretoria have organised protests. The number of students attending these protests are far bigger than that of Cape Town and reports suggest that these, too, have turned violent.
The government said they would cap university fee increases at 6%, however, the students rejected this motion and is pushing for a 0% increase.
