SA Box Office gets ‘Taken’

Taken 3 dominated the South African box office this weekend, debuting in first place. The third instalment in the popular franchise follows retired CIA agent Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) who’s forced to get back into action when he is framed for the murder of his ex-wife (Famke Janssen).

Paddington moved up from number three to number two this weekend, while competing kiddies’ film Tinkerbell and the Neverbeast moved down to number three.

Fantasy film Seventh Son, starring Jeff Bridges as a warrior who fights the supernatural and Julianne Moore as a witch, moves to number four after debuting at number one last weekend.

The oldest film on the chart is The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies which has currently grossed a whopping R24 784 358 in South Africa.
