Rodgers: Vardy Will Be in the Squad

January 28, 2020

Leicester City coach, Brendan Rodgers, says that Jamie Vardy will make his return today, Tuesday 27 January, during the club’s FA Cup semi-final second legs clash with Aston Villa.

The 33-year-old English striker sustained a glute injury when the Foxes took on West Ham last Wednesday, 22 January.

In a recent pre-match press conference, Rodgers claimed that Vardy will be part of the squad that will take on the Lions at Villa Park.

He said: “[Vardy will] be in the squad. He’s worked very hard since picking up the injury in midweek. We’ll give it another full day … and decide if he starts or comes off the bench. But he will have a part to play.”

However, the Northern Irish coach reassured fans that he will not push the striker too hard.

He explained: “I’d rather have an 80% Jamie Vardy than no Jamie Vardy at all … but we also have to consider the risk of further injury, and that’s what we’re weighing up.”
