Robert Lewandowski Sets New UCL Record
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is enjoying an incredible season, and can now add “fastest Champions League quadruple in history” to his list of professional records.
The 31-year-old Polish footballer scored a record four goals within 15 minutes during his side’s 6-0 league win over Serbian team Crvena Zvezda on Tuesday night, 26 November.
His first goal came at the 53rd minute, followed shortly by three more – at the 60th, 64th and 67th minutes respectively. All strikes happened within the space of 14 minutes and 31 seconds.
The feat places him alongside Argentine Lionel Messi, to become the only other player to score four goals or more in a single Champions League game.
Lewandowski has proven himself as one of Europe’s most consistent and impressive strikers of the past decade, although his accomplishments have taken a backseat to the sensational deeds of Messi and Ronaldo.
The 2019/20 campaign has shown what could possibly be his best form to date, having scored 27 goals in 20 matches for the Bavarians.
