Rihanna Takes Dad to Court over “Fenty” Trademark

January 16, 2019

Rihanna is suing her father over exploiting her name for his business.

In the recently filed lawsuit, the “Russian Roulette” hitmaker claims that her father, Ronald Fenty, and his business partner, Moses Joktan Perkins, falsely suggested that their talent and production company, Fenty Entertainment, is affiliated with her.

Per media reports, Rihanna – whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty – has been using the trademarked name “Fenty” for her cosmetics brand and other businesses since 2012.

Carla Wirtschafter, an attorney, wrote in the complaint: “Mr Fenty and Mr Perkins have used these lies in a fraudulent effort to solicit millions of dollars from unsuspecting third parties in exchange for the false promise that they were authorised to act on Rihanna’s behalf.”

The lawsuit also claims that Rihanna repeatedly sent several cease and desist letters to her father, but to no avail.

The singer is now seeking unspecified damages, as well as an injunction against Fenty and Perkins.
