Report: Mahrez To Join Arsenal

August 04, 2016

After months of rumours doing the rounds, it seems that Leicester City midfielder, Riyad Mahrez will, in fact, be leaving the EPL champions to join rival club, Arsenal.

The Algerian international has been the subject of a move to another English club for quite some time, after his impressive performance in Leicester’s EPL campaign last season. He was also one of the star players to eventually help Leicester claim victory.

According to Algerian newspaper, Le Buteur, Mahrez met with Arsene Wenger – manager of Arsenal – this week and apparently agreed on a transfer deal for the upcoming 2016/2017 season.

However, despite Arsenal’s supposed accepted offer, Leicester City manager, Claudio Ranieri is said to be in the process of proposing a counter offer to keep the 25-year old at Leicester.

Reports are suggesting that Leicester City is prepared to offer Mahrez £100 000 a week to stay with the club.

Mahrez was voted last season’s PFA Player of the Year.
