Report: John Terry to Sign With Aston Villa
Several reports are suggesting that former Chelsea stalwart, John Terry, will complete a transfer to Aston Villa by the end of the day.
Villa, who play in the English Championship, the second level of English football just below the Premier League, has reportedly offered Terry a one-year deal at the club.
Reports have also said that the former English captain could earn £4 million should he help Aston Villa secure a promotion to the Premier League next season.
Terry was first rumoured to be taking up a coaching position at the club, but Villa manager, Steve Bruce, is said to be keen to have Terry as an integral member of his squad in their bid for promotion to the Premier League.
Terry has also been tied with a move to Aston Villa rivals, Birmingham City, but according to those in the know, Villa’s offer for Terry was much more lucrative than that of Birmingham.
While Premier League teams, including West Brom and Bournemouth, reportedly made offers for Terry, the 36-year-old turned all of them down as he does not want to play against Chelsea.
Terry is a Chelsea loyalist, having been with the club for 20 years.
It is believed that an official announcement of Terry’s contract with Villa will be made later today or tomorrow morning.
