Report: Arsenal to Announce Lacazette Signing Soon
Various reports are suggesting that English Premier League club, Arsenal, will announce the signing of French international, Alexandre Lacazette, by the end of the day.
Lacazette is said to have already completed a medical exam at Arsenal on Tuesday.
Arsenal have been in talks with Lacazette for quite some time, and while their initial bid for the Lyon player was rejected, it seems that the French Ligue 1 side has accepted The Gunners’ new offer.
According to reports, Arsenal will sign the 26-year-old for a club record fee of £45 million – which can go up to £52 million with add-ons.
This number surpasses the fee Arsenal paid Real Madrid for Mesut Ozil back in 2013.
Lacazette was initially set on joining La Liga club, Atletico Madrid, but world football governing body, FIFA, handed down a transfer ban to Atletico for breaking international transfer rules for their U-18 players.
Lacazette has had a very successful career at Lyon, having scored 129 goals in 275 appearances for the club.
He joined the club as an 18-year-old in 2009.
If Lacazette’s signing is announced, it will only be Arsenal’s second signing this season. They have also secured the services of left-back, Sead Kolasinac, from German club, Schalke.
