Refresh Your Skin After The Festive Season

January 12, 2017

With the festive season behind us, it is time to get our bodies back in shape after binging during the holidays.

One of the biggest steps to refreshing your body after the holidays, is to take proper care of your skin and to make sure you give it that extra bit of help to restore itself to its natural glory.

We all know the deal: a night of indulgence – be it with alcohol, food or sweets – will more likely than not have some sort of effect on your skin. Be it breakouts, dehydration or irritation, our skin is sensitive to what we put into our body.

Indulgence and the festive season go hand-in-hand, so it is only fair that after we treated ourselves during the festive season, that we treat our skin.

Here are some of the easiest and most effective ways you help your skin restore itself and look its glowing best.

Hydration is everything

You probably know this already, but when it comes to skincare, hydration really is the key to beautiful skin.

Make sure you hydrate your skin properly by drinking enough water and using a good moisturiser that suits your skin type.

Especially after the festive season, your skin will need all the hydration it can get. A good idea is to double your usual water intake during the recuperation period.

Exfoliate and nourish

Another great way to refresh and revive your skin is to exfoliate.

It is best to use a natural exfoliator rather than a synthetic one. The synthetic exfoliators – those with plastic beads in the formula – are not good for your skin, so rather opt for a natural option containing sugar to act as a scrub.

The exfoliation will remove the dead skin cells from the surface of your skin and promote the regeneration of new skin cells.

Make a mask

The best facial masks are homemade ones, as they are natural and free from preservatives and chemicals that could potentially damage your skin even more.

There are literally thousands of ways to make a homemade face mask, but for best results make sure you always include staple ingredients such as cold pressed coconut oil, honey, lemon and avocado.
