Record-Breaking Nods and Lavish Feasts for Oscar Night

March 12, 2026

The 2026 Academy Awards have already made history in Los Angeles, California, ahead of the ceremony this Sunday, 15 March. Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” leads the field with a record-breaking 16 nominations, including surprises for British stars Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo.

However, the ceremony faces controversy following the total shutout of “Wicked: For Good”, which failed to secure a single nod for Cynthia Erivo or Ariana Grande. Paul Mescal also missed out for his role in “Hamnet”.

While the competition remains fierce, the post-ceremony Governors Ball offers a more indulgent atmosphere. Chef Wolfgang Puck returns for his 32nd year to serve 1 500 guests. The menu features 70 dishes, ranging from his signature smoked salmon pizza to 90kg of tomahawk steak.

Attendees often arrive “famished”, according to Puck. “Comfort food is always the people’s favorite food, like our chicken pot pie,” he noted. Dessert includes 2 000 chocolate statuettes sprayed with 24K liquid gold.

Chef Garry Larduinat explained their popularity, stating: “I think the reason why people love them so much is because it’s so hard to get a real Oscar, right?”
