Real Madrid Win 33rd La Liga Title
Legendary Spanish football club, Real Madrid, have won their 33rd La Liga title on Sunday.
The Spanish club, under leadership of former French international footballer, Zinedine Zidane, beat Malaga 2-0 in their final game of the season on Sunday, taking them to the top of the log.
This is the first time in five years that Real Madrid has won the La Liga title, having last lifted the trophy in the 2011/2012 season.
The win was all thanks to two star Real Madrid players: Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
Ronaldo scored the first goal of the match very early on – in the second minute of the game. Benzema followed in the 55th minute of the game.
Following the win, thousands of Real Madrid fans gathered at the Plaza de Cibeles in Madrid – the traditional celebration spot for the club – to hail their champions as they arrived at the plaza on an open-top bus.
The squad was all decked out in traditional Real Madrid white shirts with the number 33 on the back, celebrating their 33rd league title.
Ronaldo addressed the crowd from atop the bus, saying that the only thing left to do now is to win the Champions League.
“We have to win the Champions League now. We are counting on all of your support. Let’s Go! Thank you very much,” Ronaldo told the crowd before breaking into song with his teammates.
Real Madrid will face Juventus in the final of the Champions League on June 3rd in Cardiff.
