Real Madrid to Swap Asensio for Liverpool’s Mane?

July 01, 2019

Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to swap one of their players in exchange for the signature of Liverpool’s star forward, Sadio Mane, during the summer transfer window.

Mane – who joined the Reds from Southampton in 2016 for $34 million – has become one of the club’s key players, having scored an impressive 59 goals in 126 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

He was linked with Real Madrid earlier last season, but he dismissed rumours of a transfer, saying that he was “very happy” at Liverpool.

Now, the Spanish club are apparently willing to offer their winger, Marco Asensio, in exchange for the 27-year-old Senegalese forward’s services.

However, according to Kieran Maguire, a soccer finance expert, Klopp – believed to be an admirer of Asensio – is likely happy with his current squad.

Maguire added: “[Klopp’s] also had some absolute bargains in the likes of Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who came through the academy, and those two alone will have saved £100 million, So, not just about spending big – it’s spending smart as well, which you’ve got to give the club credit for.”
