Real Madrid Reject Man United’s Morata Bid

June 07, 2017

According to reports, Spanish giants, Real Madrid, have rejected an offer from English Premier League club, Manchester United, for the services of Spanish striker, Alvaro Morata.

A report by Sky Sports said that Manchester United made a £52 million offer for Morata, but that Madrid turned it down because they are holding out for an offer around the £78 million mark.

Morata has been a prime target for Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho is reportedly working on improving his team’s frontline as the future of star forwards, such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, still seem uncertain.

Ibrahimovic, who was an integral part of United’s campaign last season, suffered a devastating injury in second half of the season. This forced him out of play for the remainder of the 2016/2017 Premier League and for United’s lead-up campaign to the final of the Europa League.

While Ibrahimovic has stated his desire to stay with United for the upcoming season, there has been no official word from The Red Devils’ management on whether he will stay for the 2017/2018 season.

Morata has made quite a name for himself at Real Madrid. He signed with the Champions League victors in 2010 and was placed in their second team. In the very same year, he made his first team debut for the club.

He has since gone on to win La Liga, Serie A and Champions League with Real Madrid.

Morata was born and bred in Madrid, Spain and has made 19 appearances for the Spanish national team.

As for Manchester United, besides showing a very keen interest in Morata, they are reportedly also in talks with Italian club, Torino, for the services of striker, Andrea Belotti.

There has been no official statement on whether or not United will increase their offer for Morata.
