Real Madrid Close In on Deal for Man Utd’s JJ Gabriel
Real Madrid have verbally agreed terms to recruit Manchester United prodigy JJ Gabriel, having accelerated talks once the forward turned 16 in October.
The European champions anticipate securing the teenager in January, eclipsing rivals such as Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich.
Gabriel walked out on United in September after growing discontented with his lack of senior opportunities. Strains escalated when his family refused his return to Under-21 training, pressed for guaranteed first-team minutes, and sought immediate de-registration.
He has since been conditioning in Spain and is now located in Madrid, capitalising on dual-parent EU eligibility to finalise terms abroad.
While the prospective transfer avoids further internal discord over preferential treatment, United are weighing legal proceedings regarding alleged unauthorized approaches, aiming to boost their compensation payout.
Despite high-profile internal pitches from senior club figures, the Red Devils could not dissuade the youngster from departing. Reacting to the fallout, United head coach Michael Carrick remarked: “We’ve got to be really careful of the whole situation. He’s a young boy…from a club point of view, looking after our younger players – their welfare, their well-being, their exposure – we’ve got to be really conscious of that in this situation.”
Madrid envision Gabriel initially featuring for Castilla alongside youth competition appearances.
