Rashford-led Man United Beats Mourinho’s Men 2-1

December 05, 2019

Jose Mourinho’s return to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening, 4 December, was spoiled after Marcus Rashford led Manchester United to a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Six minutes into the game, Rashford beat Spurs goalkeeper, Paul Gazzaniga, near the post to score his first goal of the night.

Dele Alli drew the score level for Mourinho’s side in the 39th minute, scoring past David de Gea after deceiving Fred and Ashley Young with an outstanding first touch on a dropping ball.

Come the second half, however, Rashford converted a second-half penalty to restore their lead and ultimately bring the victory.

In a post-match interview, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised the Red Devils, saying: “We’ve started the rebuilding. We’ve made decisions that we had to and we’re looking to build this club to be better again, and I can’t think short-term when I’m trying to do that.”

Man United’s win has resulted in their moving up to sixth place on the Premier League log.
