Rashford Arrives in Barcelona Ahead of Season-Long Loan

July 21, 2025

Marcus Rashford has landed in Spain to complete a season-long loan move from Manchester United to Barcelona, with an option for the transfer to become permanent next summer.

The 27-year-old forward – who spent the latter half of the previous season at Aston Villa – has slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Barcelona, in need of a natural left winger, acted swiftly after missing out on Nico Williams and Luis Diaz. Now, with Hansi Flick at the helm, Rashford is expected to become part of the front three, alongside Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.

Rashford, who has not played for United since December, is keen on a fresh start. The move to Camp Nou represents a long-held ambition for the England international, who has been training intensely during the off-season to regain his top form.

During an interview with an online sports news publication on Sunday, 20 July, former United teammate Paul Pogba backed the transfer: “Manchester United are losing a great player – unlucky for them. It’s great for Barcelona, to be honest.”

Rashford is expected to join Barcelona’s pre-season tour of Asia and could feature against K League 1 side FC Seoul on 31 July.
