Prince Harry is Engaged
British royal, Prince Harry, is set to marry American actress, Meghan Markle, in a spring wedding next year.
Clarence House issued a statement yesterday, confirming the news, and adding that the 33-year-old prince asked for Markle’s parents’ blessing before proposing.
The couple met on a blind date in mid-2016, and kept their romance a secret until news of their relationship broke late last year.
The prince, who is fifth in line to the throne, said that the two fell in love “so incredibly quickly” it seemed as if “the stars were aligned”.
According to the couple, the prince proposed earlier this month at his home in Kensington Palace, London, during dinner.
“It was just an amazing surprise. It was so sweet, and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee,” Markle said.
The 36-year-old actress reportedly said “yes” before Harry had even finished his proposal.
Prince Harry designed the ring himself, and it includes two diamonds which belonged to his late mother, Princess Diana.
Markle rose to fame in the US television show, Suits, in which she starred for six seasons. She has confirmed that she’ll be giving up acting to focus on her new royal role and her humanitarian work.
She said: “I don’t see it as giving anything up. I see it as a change. It’s a new chapter.”
