Possible Assault Charge on the Way for Tory Lanez
Rapper Tory Lanez potentially faces a felony assault charge following his involvement in a shooting last month.
On 12 July, the “Say It” hitmaker was arrested after fellow rapper, Megan Thee Stallion, was shot twice in her foot while they were both travelling in a chauffeured SUV in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.
The shooting – which resulted from an apparent verbal dispute between the two rappers – required Thee Stallion to get surgery on her injured foot.
Although Lanez was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and charged with possession of a concealed weapon – specifically a handgun – the city’s district attorney is also considering charging him with assault.
Prosecutors have reportedly asked the LAPD to launch an investigation into the incident, after Thee Stallion uploaded photos of her gruesome injuries to Instagram on Wednesday, 19 August, in response to those who doubted the shooting was real.
Should Lanez be formally charged with assault, sources say that he will claim it was an accidental shooting.
