Pogba Suffers Horrific Racial Abuse by United Fans

August 20, 2019

Paul Pogba was subjected to racist abuse and death threats on social media by Manchester United fans, after missing a penalty shot against Wolves on Monday, 19 August.

Immediately after Man United was awarded the penalty, Marcus Rashford and Pogba appeared to be in a debate over who should take the shot. Eventually, Pogba took the ball and stepped up for the penalty.

Unfortunately for Pogba, Wolves goalkeeper, Rui Patricio, saved the French midfielder’s shot and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Some of United’s fans, who believed that Rashford could have scored the penalty, decided to take out their frustration on Pogba by posting horrific racial tweets targeted at the midfielder.

United released a statement on their website on Tuesday condemning the abuse. The statement reads: “Everyone at Manchester United is disgusted by the racial abuse aimed at Paul Pogba last night and we utterly condemn it.”

The Red Devil’s statement continued: “Manchester United has zero tolerance of any form of racism or discrimination and a long-standing commitment to campaigning against it through our #AllRedAllEqual initiative.”
