Pellegrini Bids Man City Farewell
Manchester City manager, Manuel Pellegrini, bid farewell to the club he has been managing for the past two seasons in somewhat of a somber manner, as City failed to win their last home game with Pellegrini at the helm on Sunday.
Manchester City drew with Arsenal 1 – 1 on Sunday, which has resulted in them not being in control of their own fate in qualifying of for the Champions League.
Whether City now qualifies for the Champions League or not, depends on whether Manchester United will lose points in their last two games and whether Arsenal will lose to Aston Villa.
They will also have to win their final EPL game against Swansea City on Sunday.
However, these last few moments of the EPL will not be in Pellegrini’s hands anymore. New manager Pep Guardiola will now take over the reigns from Manuel Pellegrini.
After the final whistle blew, Pellegrini addressed the crowd at the Etihad stadium; which by now was only half full:
“…It was not the way we wanted to finish the season. We wanted to qualify for the final of the Champions League and win our game today, for the next Champions [League]…But for me they were three wonderful years of working, three unforgettable years. So all I can say to the fans is thanks for all,”
He continued thanking the fans, saying that he would never forget them:
“…I will never forget you…Most of all, don’t change. Continue the same way because this team needs you and I’m sure that next year you will be a very successful team in all the competitions. Thanks for all, and I’ll see you,” Pellegrini said.
