Oscar Pistorius Released From Jail

October 20, 2015

South African paralympian, Oscar Pistorius, has been released from jail.

The 26-year old has spent the last close to one year in prison for the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp in 2013, has been released and placed under house arrest as of last night (Monday).

Pistorius was originally scheduled to be released today (20 October) but was secretly released last night into the custody of his family to avoid a media frenzy.

Oscar will now be under house arrest for the remainder of his sentence, which will be until October of 2019. It is not yet clear whether or not other provisions will be given to him.

According to an insider, Oscar’s family was surprised to see him arrive at home as not even the close family was informed of the secret release. They also released a statement saying they are very happy to have him home.

The insider – who claims to have intimate knowledge – said that Oscar is still “very broken” and that he now has the chance to heal after being released from prison.

Pistorius’ trial gripped the world as he was accused of killing his girlfriend in cold blood. However, he claimed he mistook her for an intruder.

In the end, Pistorius was convicted of a manslaughter charge and given the above sentence.
