Oscar Pistorius Heading Back To Court On Tuesday

December 08, 2015

South African paralympian, and now convicted murderer, Oscar Pistorius, is set to be back in the Pretoria High Court on Tuesday where he will be formally charged with his murder conviction.

Tuesday’s court appearance will be a quick appearance before formal sentencing proceedings start.

Pistorius’ previous conviction of culpable homicide was overturned on Thursday by the Supreme Court of Appeals in favour of a murder conviction.

Before being convicted of murder, Pistorius had spent a year in prison for his culpable homicide conviction and was released in October of this year to spend the remainder of his 5-year sentence under house arrest.

It is not yet clear what his new sentence will be, although a murder conviction in South Africa carries a minimum sentence of 15 years.
