Oscar Pistorius Granted Bail, Sentencing Set For April

December 09, 2015

Convicted murderer, Oscar Pistorius, has been granted bail in the Pretoria High Court where he had to appear after his culpable homicide conviction was overturned and replaced with murder last week.

Pistorius appeared briefly in the Pretoria High Court before judge Aubrey Ledwaba. Ledwaba then granted Pistorius bail, that was set at R10 000.

The bail amount has to be paid in full before the 11th of December.

As for the case, it was postponed until April of next year. This is where Pistorius will be sentenced for the murder of his former girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

Pistorius shot and killed Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013.

According to various reports in South Africa, it is widely believed that Pistorius will appeal his murder conviction at South Africa’s Constitutional Court. In fact, Pistorius’ lawyer, Barry Roux, told Deputy Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba that an application for leave to appeal would be brought to the Constitutional Court.
