Ollie Watkins Linked to Manchester United Swap Deal
Ollie Watkins could be sold in a potential £60 million swap for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
Sources claim that Aston Villa are looking to activate a £40 million buy option for Rashford – who has been on loan from United for the past three months – as part of a plan to comply with financial regulations.
Meanwhile, Watkins is attracting interest from Liverpool and Manchester United. The latter are reportedly keen to include Rashford in a swap deal to secure the 29-year-old striker’s services, as they seek attacking reinforcements amid ongoing struggles up front.
Watkins’ recent lack of game time – starting in just one of Villa’s last six matches – has sparked speculation about a summer exit. He voiced frustration after being benched in both legs of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) tie against Paris Saint-Germain, seeing just 20 minutes of playing time before coach Unai Emery brought him off.
Despite his lack of time on the pitch, his stats speak volumes: His form remains strong, with 15 goals in 33 English Premier League appearances this season.
With UCL qualification and summer strategy at stake, Villa face a tough decision: stick with a proven finisher, or back Rashford as a long-term asset.
