Nuno Grounds Heavy-Lifting Traore at West Ham

West Ham winger Adama Traore has been ordered to stop weight training by manager Nuno Espírito Santo.

Despite the 30-year-old’s reputation for a bodybuilder’s physique, his manager believes the Spaniard “carries enough weight”.

The directive follows a social media clip shared by teammate Crysencio Summerville, which showed Traore bench-pressing 145kg. Although the former Fulham man previously claimed he avoided weights, Nuno is taking no chances.

“I’ve told him to stay out of the gym,” the manager stated, noting that Traore’s build is down to genetics. “He’ll do prevention work [in the gym], but he’s not in there lifting weights.”

While the manager encourages 18-year-old Airidas Golambeckis to spend hours bulking up, he insists Traore must focus on team dynamics. Since his £2-million January move, the winger has mostly appeared as a substitute.

However, Nuno, who coached the Spaniard at Wolves, remains confident in his “unique” talent. As the Hammers fight for English Premier League survival, the manager believes Traore’s opportunity is nearing, provided he swaps the barbell for tactical integration.
