Nigerian Army Kills 19 Boko Haram Members
The Nigerian army has said that they have killed 19 Boko Haram soldiers in the Borno state in the north east of the country.
The Boko Haram soldiers were killed during a clash with the Nigerian military in the area.
The attack on the Boko Haram members, was launched jointly by the Nigerian military as well as joint task force members, who are civilians.
They attacked the Boko Haram members after they received an intelligence report which said that there was a presence of Boko Haram fighters in the militants’ Chukungudu camp.
Besides killing the members of the terrorist group, the army along with the JTF civilians managed to destroy an explosives making factory, while also recovering anti-aircraft guns, other weapons and various vehicles.
They also said that they detonated four improvised explosive devices at the camp.
“…During the encounter at the camp, the troops killed 19 Boko Haram terrorists including their notorious leader in the area, called Ameer Abubakar Gana,” a statement by the military read.
The Nigerian government has been working closely alongside the military to ramp up efforts in fighting Boko Haram over the past few months.
