Nigeria: Coronavirus Patient Moved to Better Health Facility
An Italian national who tested positive for the coronavirus in Lagos, Nigeria, has been safely relocated to a better equipped health facility.
Italy is one of the European nations that has been heavily hit by the coronavirus. There have been 1 701 total cases, with the death toll currently sitting at 41.
According to reports, the infected national – who lives and works in Nigeria – tested positive for the virus last Thursday, 27 February, after falling ill following his arrival in Lagos from Milan in northern Italy.
The next day, he was quarantined at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Lagos’ Yaba suburb, where he was declared “clinically stable”.
Now, according to Lagos’ health commissioner, Akin Abayomi, the patient was moved to a renovated facility with air-conditioning after complaining about the hospital’s poor conditions.
Abayomi said: “His condition has improved. He hasn’t developed any new symptoms, but he’s still got a mild fever.”
Officials are currently working to identify and trace all the contacts of the patient since he entered Nigeria to prevent the coronavirus from possibly spreading.
