Neymar: The PSG Project that Bombed
Neymar has proven to be an expensive mistake for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over the past two years, if the comments of the club’s president on Tuesday, 18 June, are anything to go by.
In an interview with a French football news outlet, PSG president Al-Khelaifi said: “I do not want to have any celebrity behaviour anymore. Players will have to assume their responsibilities even more than before.”
He added that Kylian Mbappe would definitely remain, but Neymar’s future with the French club next season was unclear.
The news became apparent when the Parisians team started searching – for the first time – for a buyer of the world’s most expensive football player valued, whom they originally purchased for €222 million.
Neymar helped PSG bag the Ligue 1 title again this season, but his overall performance, publicised shameful actions off the pitch, and inconsistent physical fitness have been a constant worry. He is currently on his ninth injury spell since signing up, something that would worry any coach.
