Neymar Takes Swing at Fan
Football superstar, Neymar, took Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG’s) loss to Stade Rennes on Saturday, 27 April, in a personal way when a fan insulted him – by punching the provocative fan in the face.
The Brazillian helped PSG reach 2-0 after 21 minutes at the Stade de France, but the opposition clawed back to level the score 2-2, forcing a penalty shoot-out – which Rennes won 6-5.
Once the match was over, the players climbed the steps to receive their awards, shaking the hands of those who lined the path. One of the fans said something to Neymar, which caused the 27-year-old star to physically lash out at him.
The so-called fan has been identified as Edouard, a 28-year-old truck driver from Nantes.
The moment was caught on multiple mobile phones. Alex Bernado, a friend of Neymar, posted a video clip on Instagram, in which Edouard can be heard goading Neymar: “Oh, go and learn to play football.”
Neymar commented on the video: “Who will defend me from going in defence of my teammates?”
It is currently unknown if the PSG forward will face punishment for his actions.
