Neymar Suffers Injury During International Friendly

November 21, 2018

Brazil star, Neymar, has reportedly suffered a groin injury during his side’s international friendly against Cameroon on Tuesday, 20 November.

The 26-year-old forward lasted less than ten minutes on the pitch, before he appeared to pull a muscle while attempting to play a cross into the opposition penalty area, and collapsed on the ground.

As a result, Neymar limped off the pitch, much to the crowd’s displeasure, and was replaced by striker Richarlison. Brazil went on to beat Cameroon 1-0.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Dr Rodrigo Lasmar of Brazil’s physio team said: “[Neymar] complained and underwent an early assessment, but he already began his treatment. It doesn’t seem serious at first, but we should wait and see how he develops.”

This injury could prove to be a blow to Neymar’s current team, Paris Saint-Germain, who are set to face Liverpool in a highly anticipated Champions League match next Wednesday, 28 November.
