Neymar Returns to Form with Milestone
Football superstar, Neymar, made another giant stride in his return to form by hitting a milestone during Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) 2-0 win over Lille yesterday, Sunday 26 January.
The 27-year-old Brazilian forward not only scored both goals of the match, he also netted his 100th and 101st international goals for PSG. He reached the incredible record in just his 75th appearance in all competitions.
The total includes 66 league goals and 35 assists. The amount includes 46 league goals, which makes him the second highest goal scorer in Ligue 1 history, just after Gunnar Anderson who scored only one goal more than Neymar for the same number of appearances from 1950 to 1952.
He also paid tribute to recently passed National Basketball Association legend, Kobe Bryant – who died in a helicopter crash this weekend – dedicating his second goal to him.
After the game, Neymar explained his special revelry after his second goal: “I knew [Bryant] and I did this celebration to pay tribute to him. And I hope he will rest in peace.”
