New Spurs Boss Spurns Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Newly-appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho, has ruled out signing striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the club.
Earlier this month, Ibrahimovic – who previously played for Manchester United from 2016 to 2018 under the coachmanship of Mourinho – exited from Major League Soccer outfit, LA Galaxy.
Although the 38-year-old Swede is now a free agent, Mourinho is adamant that he will not be signing him anytime soon.
Speaking to a media outlet on Monday, 25 November, the ‘Special One’ gave his thoughts about the matter: “[Ibrahimovic is] an amazing player and an amazing guy, but I would say ‘no’. No chance.”
He explained: “We have the best striker in England … it doesn’t make any sense for a striker of [Ibrahimovic’s] dimension – in his late 30s but that can play at any club in the world – to come to a club where we have Harry Kane.”
Fresh off their recent 3-2 victory over West Ham, the Spurs are set to face Olympiacos FC in a UEFA Champions League match today, Tuesday 26 November.
