Mythbusters Cast Feels Loss of Jessi Combs
To many, Jessi Combs was a television personality and stuntwoman, but to the cast and crew of the hit science entertainment program “Mythbusters”, she was a friend and colleague.
Combs – also known as “the fastest woman on four wheels” – died in a crash on Tuesday, 27 August, after attempting to break her own land speed record, whilst piloting a jet-powered race car in the Alvord Desert of Oregon, in North America.
Her former cast members shared their tributes to the late 36-year-old stuntwoman.
Adam Savage, one of the series’ co-hosts, posted the day after on Twitter: “I’m so so sad, Jessi Combs has been killed in a crash. She was a brilliant & [top]-notch builder … & strove everyday to encourage others by her prodigious example.”
Kari Byron – whom Combs replaced for 12 episodes during the show’s seventh season whilst Byron was pregnant – also took to Twitter on the same day to say: “So sad to hear about Jessi. She was a badass. Always pushing [the] limits. Sending smiles into the universe for her.”
