Mourinho and Manchester United Suffer Major Criticism
Jose Mourinho and Manchester United are being slammed for their treatment of veteran German midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Mourinho dropped Schweinsteiger from the first-team squad, forcing him to train with the reserves, after he failed to make a significant impact this season, due to injuries.
Schweinsteiger’s former team-mate, Lukas Podolski has expressed his anger and disappointment in Mourinho, along with many other German fans.
Podolski believed Schweinsteiger deserves to be treated with more respect, saying: “When you look at the career Bastian has had, I can only say that what is happening there is simply not right for a player of his stature”.
The former captain of Germany is now said to be planning his move from United to MLS in the United States. Schweinsteiger has had an incredibly successful career thus far, having won eight Bundesliga titles, the Champions League and the World Cup.
Podolski, although unsure of Mourinho’s exact discussion with Schweinsteiger, is certain that dropping such a player is unwise:
“A coach should always keep his door open to all players, and especially to players like Schweini.”
Podolski is even considering the move to America himself, saying that “America is great” and he finds the MSL an intriguing option.
