Morocco to Host Historic 2025 Africa Cup of Nations
Africa’s biggest football spectacle returns this December as Morocco prepares to host the 35th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), running from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
The month-long tournament will feature 24 nations, including 12 past champions, competing across nine venues in six cities, from Rabat and Casablanca to Tangier and Marrakesh.
Defending champions Cote d’Ivoire will aim to retain their crown, while Egypt, the competition’s most successful side with seven titles, hopes to reclaim their dominance. Heavyweights Nigeria, Senegal, Algeria, and the hosts Morocco are also among the favourites to win.
AFCON 2025 will open in Rabat, where Morocco will face Comoros, and conclude in the same city at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. With stars such as Mohamed Salah, Victor Osimhen, and Sadio Mane expected to shine, the tournament promises a festive feast of football.
Morocco’s long-awaited return as hosts, 37 years after last staging the event, signals that the tournament will be an unforgettable celebration of African pride, passion, and talent.
