Monopoly getting a Cape Town makeover
Popular board game Monopoly is getting Capetonian makeover as a Cape Town Edition is set to release later this year.
According a press release issued on behalf of the board game’s manufacturer Winning Moves and its South African distributor Epic Games SA, Capetonians will be given an opportunity to choose which of the Mother City’s hotspots should be featured on the game.
Capetonians will be able to do this by nominating the hot spots or properties they’d like to see on the Monopoly board by sending their requests to CapeTown@winningmoves.co.uk.
Local fans are urged to submit "Capetonian phrases and words" which will be used for the ‘Community Chest’ and ‘Chance’ cards featured in the game.
"Cape Town has long been on our list of regional Monopoly targets, and when we had the Mother City included on our anniversary edition, we knew this year was the one to bring Monopoly to Cape Town’s gorgeous shores" Monopoly head Dan Taylor revealed.
The Cape Town Edition of Monopoly will hit shelves in November 2015 with Monopoly celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.
