Mohamed Salah Signs With Liverpool

June 23, 2017

Liverpool has confirmed that they have signed former Roma player, Mohamed Salah.

The Italian Serie A club turned down Liverpool’s initial offer of £28 million for Salah earlier in the month. However, sources close to the club said that Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, increased their offer to £34.3 million, which Roma then accepted.

The Egyptian international signed a five-year contract with The Reds and is the club’s first official signing for the new season.

Liverpool said that Salah passed his medical with the club on Thursday and that his contract will officially start on 1 July.

Jurgen Klopp welcomed Salah to the team, telling the club’s official website that he is excited about Salah’s future at the club.

“Mohamed has the perfect mix of experience and potential – this is a really exciting signing for us…He knows the Premier League, he has pedigree in the Champions League and he is one of the most important players for his country [sic],” he said.

Salah played for Chelsea between 2014 and 2016, before moving to Roma.

He has been praised by critics for his strong attacking skills, something Klopp has also applauded.

“His pace is incredible, he gives [Liverpool] more attacking threat and we are already strong in this area. I like that we will make it even more competitive [sic],” Klopp said.

Klopp also told the club’s website that Salah is excited to join Liverpool.

“He believes in what we are trying to do here at Liverpool and is extremely keen to be part of it. He is very excited about performing for our wonderful supporters…He is an ambitious player who wants to win and win at the highest level; he knows he can fulfil those ambitions with Liverpool…I welcome him and his family into our Liverpool family [sic],” he said.

The 25-year-old will wear the number nine shirt for Liverpool.
