
Missing YouTube Star, 29, Found Dead
Popular YouTube star, Etika, has been found dead at the age of 29, a week after he went missing.
According to reports, Etika – real name Desmond Amofah – had posted a now-deleted video titled “I’m sorry” to his “TR1Iceman” YouTube channel on Monday night, 19 June, shortly before he disappeared.
In the video, he is seen walking the streets of New York City, talking about his mental health and the dangers of social media, and expressing suicidal thoughts.
On Monday, 24 June, the YouTuber’s belongings were found on the Manhattan Bridge. After responding to a distress call about a body floating in the East River, the police retrieved the body from the waters and identified it as that of Etika.
The cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
A notable gamer and former model, Etika rose to prominence in 2012 when he began posting YouTube videos, in which he would react mainly to Nintendo’s new gaming products and releases.
An investigation into Etika’s death is currently underway.
