Miss Piggy receives feminist award
Muppets character Miss Piggy has received a feminist award.
Reuters reported that the puppet who stars in the well known Muppets TV shows and subsequent movies received her feminist award in New York last Thursday.
According to Reuters, the feminist award is a Sackler Centre First Award from the Elizabeth A Sackler Centre for Feminist Art which honours women who are exceptional in their respective fields.
Why was Miss Piggy chosen for the award? Well, The Huffington Post reported that the president of the feminist art centre Elizabeth A.Sackler was quoted as saying the following: “I was thinking, ‘who embodies the grit and the strength and the ability to sort of just shrug off all the obstacles in her way and just go for it?’…That’s Miss Piggy”.
The diva herself, Miss Piggy, shared her thoughts on her prestigious award in a statement: “Moi is thrilled, but frankly, not surprised to be receiving this Sackler Centre First Award.”
“It is truly wonderful to be celebrated and share this honour with fellow legends, role models, and pioneers of female fabulosity. We rock!”
