Mighty Warriors Qualify For Olympics
It was all about celebrations across the country on Saturday, as the Mighty Warriors managed to make history and qualify themselves for the 2016 Olympic Games.
The women’s football team – who have been working exceptionally hard as of late – managed to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro by beating Cameroon in their last match, 1 – 0.
Even though the Mighty Warriors lost the previous leg, they were awarded a spot at the Games on the away goals rule after a 2-2 aggregate draw.
New coach, Shadreck Mlauzi, said that the team performed exceptionally well:
“…[sic] I am so, so happy. This was my first time to coach the national team and look: we are going to Rio next year. I can’t express it in words, but I am delighted with these girls.
“They have made Zimbabwe proud, they have made everyone proud and even themselves. They have written their own piece of history and I am so happy,”
