Michail Antonio Signs Contract Extension with West Ham

May 12, 2017

One of West Ham United’s star players, Michail Antonio, has put rumours of a move to other English Premier League clubs to bed after signing an extension on his contract with the Hammers.

Antonio had previously been linked with a move to current Premier League leaders, Chelsea.

While Antonio may not be on the pitch as of late, as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury, he has been a key player in West Ham’s campaign this season.

He has scored nine goals for West Ham this season and has assisted in many others. In fact, his performance with West Ham this season has been so impressive, that he was voted the Hammers’ Player of the Season.

In addition to an impressive performance with West Ham, he also received his very first call-up for the English national side this year.

Antonio has signed a four-year extension with West Ham, and has said that he is happy to be staying on.

“I’ve loved my time here and I’m happy we have managed to get things [the contract extension] sorted,” he said.

He continued, saying that he is very happy with his performance this season, and that he is looking forward to having yet another stellar season with West Ham next season.

“This year has been a better year than last year because I’ve played from start to finish and I managed to get the England call-up I’ve been dreaming of since I was a child…Now it’s a case of pushing on and I don’t want to drop my standards next season,” he said.
