Mesut Ozil: I’m Happy at Arsenal
Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil, insists that he wants to remain at the club amid rumours about a possible summer exit.
The 30-year-old German – who started only 19 Premier League games this season and has allegedly clashed with the Gunners’ coach, Unai Emery – has two years remaining on his current contract.
However, he has been constantly linked with a move away from the club, who are apparently eager to offload the £350 000-a-week star in favour of raising funds towards acquiring new players.
In a recent interview with a sports outlet, Ozil claimed he is happy at Arsenal, although he acknowledged that it was ultimately the club’s decision to keep him or let him go.
He said: “Yes [I’m happy]. Why not? I’m 30 now, [and] still got years in front of me. It’s down to the club as well, of course, but I’ve got two years here – after that, I don’t know what happens.”
Time will tell if Arsenal chooses to retain Ozil’s services, or if the midfielder’s future lies with another club.
