Messi Could Miss Champions League Opener

Barcelona football star, Lionel Messi, might miss his club’s first match of their Champions League campaign due to an injury.

Messi had already had an existing hamstring injury when he payed for his country, Argentina, in the World Cup qualifier against Uruguay last week.

It was during this international game that the famous striker seemed to have aggravated an already inflamed hamstring – even though he did score the winning goal for his country.

He was scheduled to play with his international teammates against Venezuela but had to return to Spain for treatment on his injured hamstring.

This had put him in doubt for next Tuesday’s Champions League match against Celtic. Barcelona have, however, confirmed that they are running tests on him to see if he will be able to play.

“…Tests conducted today on Leo Messi have confirmed that the player is still having trouble with the adductor muscle in his left hamstring…Tests conducted today on Leo Messi have confirmed that the player is still having trouble with the adductor muscle in his left hamstring,” the statement from the Spanish club read.
