Megan Thee Stallion: I’m Grateful to be Alive
Megan Thee Stallion has opened up after reports claimed she had been arrested by the Los Angeles police in California on Sunday morning, 12 July.
The 25-year-old rapper – real name Megan Jovon Ruth Pete – is currently recovering in an undisclosed hospital following surgery after she suffered gunshot wounds.
Details on the incident are vague – however, fellow rapper, Tory Lanez, was with Pete and was arrested on the same day. Sources claim that he is to be tried on a weapons charge.
The “Hot Girl Summer” hit-maker took to Instagram on Wednesday night, 15 July, to “set the record straight”.
In a lengthy post to her 12.6 million followers, Pete said: “On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me … I’m incredibly grateful to be alive.”
In the caption Pete stated: “I was never arrested. This whole experience was an eye opener [sic] and a blessing in disguise.”
She also mentioned that she is focused on her recovery so she can get back to making music as soon as possible.
