Meatzza – Like Pizza, Just Better!

October 13, 2016

There is no denying that pizza is delicious. Whether you like a thin base, thick base, lots of toppings or minimal – pizza warms the soul.

Pizza also warms your cholesterol level, unfortunately. All the yummy goodness of melted cheese on a carb-loaded pizza dough is not too healthy for your heart or your waist.

Luckily, there is a healthier alternative to a pizza that’s packed with protein and fresh herbs. Introducing the Meatzza. A Meatzza is basically a pizza made from mince. Here’s how to make it.

Ingredients:

500g minced beef
1 can chopped tomatoes
125g Mozzarella
2 large eggs
Fresh Parsley
Fresh Basil
Olive Oil
Dried Oregano
Salt & Pepper

First, massage your mince in a bowl. Then, slightly beat the two eggs and add them to the mince. Now, preferably with your hands, mix the eggs in with the mice so that it becomes sticky.

Once your meat is sticky enough and the egg is blended in, add a grated clove of garlic to the mixture. Then, add chopped, fresh parsley to the mix. Then add salt, pepper and dried Oregano to taste. Once flavoured, lay your meat on a baking tray and spread evenly. The meat base should be about 3 or 4 centimeters thick.

Now, drain your can of chopped tomatoes and then spread evenly on top of your meat base. It should cover the base evenly. Once you have done that, add the Mozzarella on top. You can either grate the cheese or cut in slithers. Make sure the Mozzarella is also spread out evenly.

Bake in the oven at 220-degrees celsius for approximately 25 – 30 minutes, or as soon as the meat turns brown and the cheese melts.

Once you remove it from the oven, you can then add fresh Basil leaves on top of your Meatzza. Sprinkle a bit of sea salt on top and you’re good to go!
