Maurizio Pochettino Touted as Sacked Mourinho’s Replacement
Tottenham Hotspur coach, Maurizio Pochettino, is being touted as the leading candidate to take over the role as coach of Manchester United.
Pochettino is reportedly the only candidate that the Red Devils are considering to replace Jose Mourinho, who was sacked by the club on Tuesday, 18 December.
Man United are currently sixth in the Premier League logs, sitting 19 points behind Liverpool.
The club plans to appoint an interim boss until the end of the season. In the meantime, they are reportedly hoping that Pochettino will permanently take over managerial duties.
However, at a pre-match press conference ahead of today’s north London derby against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, the Spurs coach insisted that his focus was on his team.
Pochettino explained: “I’m so happy here. What is going to happen is not in our hands. I mean, the decision in another club, we don’t know. That is not my business, and I will not waste time or energy because my focus and energy is in Tottenham.”
