Masuluke Loses Out On Puskas Award

October 24, 2017

Baroka FC goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke missed out on the FIFA Puskas Award at the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in London.

Arsenal striker Oliver Giroud won the Puskas award for the first time for his scorpion kick against Crystal Palace in the Premier League last season.

The France international striker beat out Masuluke and Venezuela’s Deyna Castellanos for the award.

This is not the first time South Africans have been nominated for the award in the past.

Siphiwe Tshabalala received a nomination for the opening goal at the 2010 FIFA World Cup against Mexico, while Hlompho Kekana’s half-way line strike for Bafana Bafana made the shortlist last year.

However, Masuluke was the first South African to make it to the final round of voting.
