Manchester United: Mourinho Slams Luke Shaw
It seems that there is no love lost between Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, and left-back, Luke Shaw.
The out-of-favour player has not been very successful under the management of Jose Mourinho. After suffering a double leg-break in 2015, Shaw had to work hard to make himself seem relevant again in Mourinho’s United.
In the last four months, Shaw has only made two appearances for the English Premier League club.
However, it seems that the final nail is in the coffin for Shaw, as Mourinho recently told reporters that he cannot even come close to comparing Shaw with other players in his position.
“It’s difficult for him to be on the bench. Because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, or with Matteo Darmian, or with Daley Blind…I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind,” Mourinho told reporters ahead of United’s game against Everton on Tuesday.
Rumours were also doing the rounds last month that Mourinho was less than impressed with Shaw, after he allegedly saw him speaking to an opposition player during halftime of United’s game against Bournemouth.
There has been no official word, however, on whether or not United will keep Luke Shaw or not. Shaw himself has also not yet commented on Mourinho’s words.
