Manchester City Up the Ante with £7 Million Signing
Manchester City have reportedly agreed to a deal worth £7.1 million with Croatian outfit, HNK Hajduk Split, to sign their central midfielder, Ante Palaversa.
According to reports, the Citizens were keen on bringing in the promising 18-year-old player for some time, and are expected to confirm the signing in the coming days.
Palaversa – who began his career in Hajduk’s youth teams before being promoted to the senior team last summer – has impressed observers not only with his form and technique, but also with his maturity and focus.
In addition, Pep Guardiola, coach of Man City is said to be “bewitched” by Palaversa’s abilities and “sees Fernandinho in him”, a comparison which – in the eyes of punters – could make him a favourable successor to the 33-year-old Brazilian midfielder.
Palaversa is set to stay with Hajduk on loan until the summer, although he could potentially stay at the club for one more season after that to continue his development.
