Man United Sign Youri Tielemans
Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa in a deal worth £35 million.
The 29-year-old Belgium international signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils to keep him at Old Trafford until June 2031, marking his arrival as the club’s second major midfield reinforcement of the summer following the £50 million capture of Andrey Santos from Chelsea.
Tielemans moves to Manchester after a sterling campaign in the Midlands, where he played a pivotal role under Unai Emery, famously scoring the opening goal in Villa’s UEFA Europa League final victory over Freiburg. Fresh off captaining Belgium to the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the midfielder brings top-notch discipline and line-breaking precision to Michael Carrick’s squad.
United’s Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, praised Tielemans’ “exceptional” consistency, leadership, and technical quality under pressure.
Tielemans recently shared with a football publication that joining the 20-time English top-flight champions is a proud moment: “Signing for such a special club feels incredible; it is the culmination of years of dedication since I first fell in love with football.”
As United structure their team for a return to Champions League football, the Belgian is expected to instantly elevate their tactical rebuild.
